Peak Compressor

by David 22. February 2011 12:34

The Peak Compressor dialog and function in TerreSculptor is used to provide a linear-knee or curved-knee type of compression to all altitudes above a user-defined starting altitude level.

Anyone who is familiar with audio compression will see the similarity.  The TerreSculptor Equalize can also be used to provide similar functionality, however, the Peak Compressor has been fine-tuned to provide the greatest flexibility targetted towards knee peak compression.
This function is most useful for managing the excessive peaks that are formed with Ridged Hybrid types of noise generation.

There are currently three different compression shape Types available: linear knee, curve 1 (post-knee curve), and curve 2.  Their equivalent shapes at a Ratio of 70 (70% compression above knee) are shown here.
