Beta Build 2011-06-22

The TerreSculptor heightmap editor pre-beta build for 2011-06-22 is available for download from the HMES Beta web page.  See the Build Notes page on the wiki for a complete list of the build changes.

This build focused mainly on rewriting portions of the dialog thumbnail preview control in order to reduce its memory requirements, reduce its dependant code, improve its render performance, and increase the supported preview sizes to include 384 and 512 heightmap thumbnail sizes.  This is a largest available thumbnail size increase of 4x from 256x256 to 512x512, which will greatly improve the preview detail on many of the GeoTools.  Note that the larger preview resolutions should only be used on high-end computer systems.

Additional new features for this build include the GeoTool Repeat function (F4 key), which retains the last settings used for each GeoTool dialog in immediate edit mode; user-configurable FOV settings; and Editor scene screenshot saving.

Upcoming features will include Frame Sequence and Movie generation capabilities, allowing for saving individual frames or an avi for an Editor window orbit camera rotation animation, and time-lapse style animation rendering for GeoTools such as Erosion.
The next build should also see the initial version of the Mask and Weightmap Editor dialog available for use.  All of the GeoTool dialogs that are using a single preview control will also be increased in size from a 256x256 preview window up to a 384x384 preview window for the next build release.
